Two confirmed cases of people getting Dengue virus in L.A. County from local mosquitoes, one in Pasadena and the other in Long Beach.
These are the first ever reports of locally transmitted Dengue virus in California. All previously known cases involved persons getting Dengue from infected mosquitoes while traveling outside the U.S:
Yellow fever mosquitoes are found throughout Southern California and are vectors of Dengue, Zika, Chikungunya and Yellow fever viruses
Closely-related Asian tiger mosquitoes are also found in Southern California. They can transmit the same viruses.
